Jim Salter

I bought myself a Christmas present this year. Behold: it's Scooty Puff Jr! This is a CSC / Cineco / Zongshen E-RT3 all-electric maxi scooter, curb weight 450lbs, top speed with me on it 78mph.

This also triggered a rebrand of the Model 3 Performance, which is now "Scooty Puff Sr: The Doom-Bringer."

I don't think that magnet is gonna stay in place for long, though. Probably gonna have to swap that out for another transparent sticker on the rear glass.

@jimsalter remind me of the Honda spray I used to ride for a few years before people realize that a partially blind guy zooming around the streets of Leominster Massachusetts was probably a bad idea :-)

@jimsalter Wow! How long does the battery last? How many miles at a speed of 50?

@linuxnerd if you drive it like Grandma at 35mph, you'll supposedly get 120mi out of it. The way I ride it--"spiritedly" and with occasional short stretches above 60mph--I get something more like 60mi.

It recharges on 120VAC wall current in about five hours, at a total cost of about fifty cents per full charge.

@linuxnerd update: I rode 66 miles yesterday in one stretch, in sport mode, with a heavy hand on the throttle, and quite a few miles at 60+mph. Got home at 4%. Range will probably be a little better in the summer.

Today I held my nose and rode about ten miles in comfort mode, keeping the cruise control at 35mph. I arrived at my destination with 90% charge, so that puts "grandma range" at somewhere between 100mi and the 120mi stated.

@linuxnerd I don't know if I'll ever PROPERLY test the grandma range, because it is not fun for me and I bought this damn thing to have fun, and it's a LOT of fun when I ride it the way I wanna ride it! 🤠

@jimsalter …Chinese battery jokes aside…nearly 80mph on an electric scooter of any kind is probably more dangerous than any resulting fire…particularly at (almost) twice the curb weight of a regular scooter. A Honda rebel motorcycle is under 400lbs. A Goldwing is 800 and that’ll make the trip to Florida. I hope it has amazing brakes or you’ll Wile E Coyote something. :)

@ministerofimpediments it's got far better brakes than the majority of the cars around it, I can promise you that.

I can PROBABLY out-brake it in the Tesla. I absolutely could not out-brake it in Janis' car.

The bike isn't going any faster than it was designed to.
