@elaterite Beautiful shot. Do I recall hearing there was a wildfire there in the last couple years?
@breitensteinart Thank you! Nope, no fire...yet. The 2021 Caldor fire threatened the area though. That's the one that started on the west side of the Sierra (near Pollack Pines) and burned to the east side (South Tahoe). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caldor_Fire
And that was the same year the Dixie Fire in the north also burned from the west side to the east side of the Sierra. Unprecedented. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_Fire
One day in Reno I remember seeing the smoke plumes blowing east on both sides of the city.
@ambivalena Yes, Emerald Bay is the jewel of Tahoe. I've paddled my kayak into it & explored that tiny island. On Fannettee island, Lora Knight had a tea house built. The ruins are still there. On the shore, under a big waterfall, Knight had Vikingsholm built in 1929. It is built with local materials but the architecture is Scandinavian. It's hard to get a photo of both Vikingsholm and Eagle Falls because the mansion is buried in the trees. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikingsholm
@ambivalena Well, she was certainly a rich lady. Here's a couple more photos. The one of Fannette Island is just before the sun lit it up. The clouds were thicker so it kind of makes the island look like it is floating in the sky, I think. Then two of Eagle Falls which tumbles down just behind Vikingsholm and into Emerald Bay. Sadly, it really isn't possible to get a good photo of the waterfall.
