I bought a seed starter kit a few years ago that consisted of 1020 seed trays and a set of 2.5 inch seed pots, along with an insert that holds the pots upright. Unfortunately, the insert adds another inch or so of height, which cuts into the space available under the grow lights.

I didn't buy any more inserts because of this, but I have problems with pots falling over or not getting bottom-watered because they are leaning and not making contact with the tray.

A thin piece of black plastic forms a 2x2 grid with 2.5 inch openings to accomodate seed pots. The grid is held up by 4 slender legs with wide feet that keep it about an inch off the table. Small rectangular openings are on each side of the grid that accomodate a fastener that sits on the table next to the grid. The fastenere snaps into place to hold the adjacent grid in place.
A 1020 seed tray sits on the table. Inside the tray are the 2x2 grids in a 2x4 array, with fasteners holding the grids together as a large matrix. In total, the grids accomodate 32 seed pots in a 4x8 array.

So I designed this seed pot grid to keep the pots from leaning or falling over. My printer bed isn’t large enough to print a full width grid, so I broke them up into smaller pieces and designed a snap-in fastener that holds the grids in place. This also makes it possible to lift a 2x2 grid of plants when they are ready for transplant so I can have a mix of plants in each tray if need be.
