I'm suspect of the reliability of this seemingly apocryphal image. It resonates with my experience, but can anyone point to more authoritative studies on the generational change in children's recreational mobility?

Golly. The decline of children’s play range across generations in one family: from 6 miles to 60 yards. Is this traffic, other dangers or our fears ? Via @docjohnwright & @scb_p…

@tim_bowden I don't know about accuracy, but it meshes with what I have heard from within my own family. Currently working to encourage my own kids to venture out more. Nice thing is that work is only a little more than a mile from home ... so it gives them some space to roam.
