So far, we've managed to eradicate just one human disease: smallpox. But we’re getting closer to banishing a few others. Preventing suffering. Saving lives. Reducing the burden on healthcare systems.

I think these two are his most accessible, especially to anyone with at least a hobbyist/dilettante interest in language and linguistics (raises hand), and especially Embassytown, which reminded me of CJ Cherryh's handling of related issues in her Foreigner series . Some of others are bit too "weird" (his word) for me
don’t forget kids, the G in AGI stands for grift

'People were tired of reading stories about Africans migrating and living abroad.'
The Nigerian author who turned publisher:
"OpenAI says it has evidence China’s DeepSeek used its model to train competitor. White House AI tsar David Sacks raises possibility of alleged intellectual property theft."
David, that happened a while ago.
We need a unit to measure social contact exposure like with radiation mSv or Rads... and then I could have little badge that turns red when I'm over my limit for the day.

Oh my god y'all the Section 31 Star Trek movie is so bad. And I'm an unrepentant "will watch the odd numbered films" person.
It's so bad I can't even be mad at the corruption of the ideals of Star Trek that Section 31 represents.
This movie is absolutely a grab bag of success formulas for movies tossed in a blender. It is the pizza steak avocado and orange juice smoothie of movies.
It's like you take the Fifth Element, Ocean's 11, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the movie), Guardians of the Galaxy, and the JJ Abrams Trek movies, toss 'em in a blender, and take out the good parts.
Michelle Yeoh is not enough to save this movie. Jamie Lee Curtis appearing as a cyborg is not enough to save this movie.
I can usually enjoy any movie even if I come away with notes.
I did not enjoy this movie. It wasn't suffering to watch because it was so bad it was easy to blot out the idea of it ever being considered canon, but it was in fact terrible. This movie is midichlorians bad.
Anyone who goes through my post history, knows I work for Meta (Facebook).
I am "Consumer Content Administrative Manager". My primary duties include content appeals, account appeals, account reviews, and some peer review.
It is no surprise that my job depends on people using Facebook. Today, I am going to suggest, you not do so. I can make that suggestion because we have a user base of billions, and I know most people would keep using Facebook even if the Devil ran the company. People are strange.
But if you feel you can truly live without Facebook, do so. Internally, things are changing, and not for the better. You should especially consider leaving Meta if you are a minority, woman, LGBTQ+, trans, or identify as progressive, politically. If facts matter to you, and misinformation is something you do not want to be subject toward, you should especially consider leaving, Facebook.
You have no privacy from Meta, while using Meta. None. I do not care if you believe you disabled a "feature" or "opt out" of something. You only seem to have done so. And even if you're going to continue to use Meta, uninstall the app (all of them). We collect data on you, even when you're not using the app.
