#introduction
I'm a compiler guy and computer engineer. Decided to join fosstodon because I spent the last 5 years doing gcc ppc support for IBM, though I'm now back doing processor design stuff for IBM POWER. I follow space stuff at a distance. Enjoy mechanical & electronics tinkering. Most posts here will likely be about that, or our foster dogs.
@acsawdey Welcome to the Fediverse. I'm just a hobbyst and at most managed to put together an 8080 assembler.
@amoroso Thanks! Assemblers are essential tools, I have never gotten so familiar with any architecture that I could write it in hex. Except maybe x86 opcode 0xCC aka int 3
@acsawdey I sort of cheated by focusing on the 8080, which is really simple.
@acsawdey Hey Aaron, how are you? could you please recommend a learning path and/or resources for the people who want to start with the compilers building world?. Thanks in advance
@foxhard That's a big question and I learned all that so long ago .. you could do worse than start here ... Parr's book is easy to understand and has good introductory chapters:
Welcome Aaron! There are lots of very interesting people here. You are responsible for finding your folks.
What I do is when someone posts something interesting, I tap on their avatar image left of their screen name at the top of their post and look at their profile page. If they seem like interesting people, I follow them. If someone turns out to be not who you thought, you can unfollow them later. Follow lots of people starting out.
@johnb48 Yup, thanks! I’m not actually that new, a couple people boosted my intro toot today.
