Another reason to not like Threads: they consider climate to be political, and won’t suggest content from any accounts talking about it.
You can opt in to political suggested content, but how many will do that?

@urlyman There are no problems if we don’t see or talk about problems, right?
@Brendanjones AKA algorithmic manipulation is clearly a big problem (https://mastodon.social/@urlyman/111906595832103968) but if we don’t talk about it we can carry on doing it
@Brendanjones I’m a political animal but I’m also really appreciating the way Threads only puts wildlife photography and NFL in front of my eyeballs. It’s a lovely safe place for me to chill and be immersed in stimulating things that make me happy. If I want politics there are plenty of other places to get it. I used to be all about politics 24/7 but I learned the hard way that it’s not healthy or sustainable.
@Brendanjones I am using Threads since it began operating in EU and have subscribed to several political accounts. As a sign of solidarity and also to test the platform.
So far I'm getting push notifications that recommend similar channels: for me the Threads experience has been mildly political.
But it relies on where you start. With channels about nature, you will receive koalas and pandas all the time. Looking at the other centralized alternative, maybe Zuck's decision wasn't the worst one.
