@MiseryPath Ich würd auch Mint sagen, höre in dem Zusammenhang aber mittlerweile auch oft #zorin_os.
Here we go.
Background. We try to resist as much as possible getting rid of electronics if they still work. E.g. we have an old dual-core Acer laptop that we installed #zorin_os and we use it for streaming.
So this year's project is changing the #AndroidOS in a Breeze tablet with Linux; with #ubuntutouch. It will surely be painful as tablets are finicky, but it will also be a learning experience. Apart from rescuing a good tablet, it will be a stepping stone for the same on our phones.
Ich benötige für meine Mutter ein neues Gerät, das folgendes kann:
- Emails
- Shopping/Surfen im Web
- (evtl. Office-Kram)
Es muss(!) folgendes bieten:
- physische Tastatur
- Mausbedienung
- 11 bis 12 Zoll Bildschirm (nicht größer!)
Ein Android-Tablet scheint mir nicht das richtige zu sein.
Sie kennt Zorin OS, das Gerät sollte also idealerweise auch damit laufen.
Abnehmbare Tastatur od. Tablet Mode wären nice to have.
Gibt es Empfehlungen?

I reccomend #zorin_os for older systems or #LinuxMint edge for newer systems that can't work due to how new they are (note: can be unstable according to the linux mint website)

¿ Qué distribución y entorno de Linux enfocados a facilidad de uso le instalaríais a alguien que solía usar Windows y usa el ordenador solo para tareas básicas como navegar y ofimática ?
Linux Mint/Cinnamon me parece una interfaz similar a W10 mejorada. OpenSUSE con KDE y Yast es lo más parecido al panel de control de W sin usar consola que yo sepa y Zorin OS es posiblemente la interfaz más similar a Windows 7/10 que hay.

I'm happy to provide support when it comes to switching to #linux. For newcomers, #zorin_os, which is based on #Ubuntu, is probably quite suitable. I started directly with Ubuntu and #gnome. Now I'm happy with #manjaro and #i3wm.
