Erik van Straten<p>The Auschwitz Memorial (aka Auschwitz Museum) continuously broadcasts toots reminding viewers of the horrific crimes committed by nazis in concentration camps roughly 80 years ago (as can be seen in <a href="https://mastodon.world/@auschwitzmuseum/with_replies" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">mastodon.world/@auschwitzmuseu</span><span class="invisible">m/with_replies</span></a> - note: they won't tell you about people who were exterminated because they were gay).</p><p>Those toots rightfully make viewers feel very sorry for what happened to those victims of WWII. Often they believe that they're doing everyone a favor by boosting such toots.</p><p>However, the real intention of the stream of sad stories, usualy with pictures, is to distract viewers from the genocide that is taking place *TODAY*. Thereby shamelessly abusing victims of the Holocaust.</p><p>🇮🇱 By boosting, you help Netanyahu and the Israeli Defence (Occupation) Forces.</p><p>As an example, Avner Shalev - Auschwitz Deputy Chairman (<a href="https://www.auschwitz.org/en/museum/auschwitz-council/iac-members/avner-shalev/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">auschwitz.org/en/museum/auschw</span><span class="invisible">itz-council/iac-members/avner-shalev/</span></a>), a long-time IDF soldier, wrote in <a href="https://www.yadvashem.org/about/former-chairmen/avner-shalev/if-everything-is-genocide.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">yadvashem.org/about/former-cha</span><span class="invisible">irmen/avner-shalev/if-everything-is-genocide.html</span></a> (in2008, see also <a href="https://www.haaretz.com/2008-05-02/ty-article/if-everything-is-genocide/0000017f-e0e7-df7c-a5ff-e2ffcedb0000" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">haaretz.com/2008-05-02/ty-arti</span><span class="invisible">cle/if-everything-is-genocide/0000017f-e0e7-df7c-a5ff-e2ffcedb0000</span></a>):</p><p>❝<br>Recently, yet another Hamas spokesperson compared the situation in Gaza to events during the Holocaust.<br>[...]<br>Language has power. The words we choose to use carry weight, and are meaningful. If we elect to label every event a "genocide," or equate every event with the Holocaust, then we detract from the real meaning of those words and reduce their ability to represent true horror.</p><p>Subsequently, when faced with a real incident of genocidal murder, people will be less likely ot [sic] be moved to act. If everything is genocide, nothing is genocide.<br>❞</p><p>The world is now faced with extensive proof of "a real incident of genocidal murder", as pointed out by numerous well-known organizations (including the ICJ and ICC, Amnesty International, Human Right Watch, Medicins sans Frontiers etc).</p><p>And notably the Auschwitz Memorial keeps denying it (see their unconditional pro-Israel statement here: <a href="https://infosec.exchange/@ErikvanStraten/113696541911571675" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">infosec.exchange/@ErikvanStrat</span><span class="invisible">en/113696541911571675</span></a>, or at the second half of <a href="https://www.auschwitz.org/en/museum/auschwitz-council/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">auschwitz.org/en/museum/auschw</span><span class="invisible">itz-council/</span></a>).</p><p>Instead, the Auschwitz Memorial wants us to believe that "never again" does not apply to Palestinians or other Arabs. This is an utter disgrace.</p><p>Notes:<br>• I block anyone who follows me when they boost a toot by the Auschwitz Memorial/Museum.</p><p>• My grandfather was a Jew who barely survived WWII. His family was murdered by Nazis.</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Gaza" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gaza</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Auschwitz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Auschwitz</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Disgrace" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Disgrace</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Hypocrisy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hypocrisy</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/GazaGenocide" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GazaGenocide</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/AuschwitzMuseum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AuschwitzMuseum</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/YadVashem" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>YadVashem</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/AuschwitzMemorial" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AuschwitzMemorial</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Westbank" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Westbank</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Lebanon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Lebanon</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Syria" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Syria</span></a></p>
