Troll 🤧<p>Ça me chauffe bien ce petit <a href="https://maly.io/tags/DAC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DAC</span></a> pour <a href="https://maly.io/tags/RaspberryPi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RaspberryPi</span></a> .</p><p>Vous me conseillez quoi comme serveur de musique local ? <br>Je vois qu'il existe des trucs comme <a href="https://maly.io/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a>, <a href="https://maly.io/tags/MoOde" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MoOde</span></a> , <a href="https://maly.io/tags/PiCorePlayer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PiCorePlayer</span></a> etc... mais j'ai jamais testé.</p>
Dr. G. Power<p>I'm updating every single one of my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a> nodes with v3.799 which doesn't seem to include much.</p>
Dr. G. Power<p>My new <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a> node is working, reusing this old Bose speaker and getting that really tiny Apple DAC for £8.99 was a good plan. I can't believe Apple sells that for under £10!</p>
Martin Wüthrich :donor:<p>I'm pretty triggered <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>volumio</span></a> :/</p>
Dr. G. Power<p>And I've just realised that I haven't got a working micro SD card so I cannot configure my new Pi tonight.... 😞 </p><p>Maybe I'll go ice skating instead. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RaspberryPi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RaspberryPi</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a></p>
Dr. G. Power<p>I ended up ordering another <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RaspberryPi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RaspberryPi</span></a> .</p><p>A Pi Zero W 2, case, and an Apple USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adaptor DAC thingy. It's going to be yet another <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a> node. One for my bedroom.</p>
Carlos Francisco 🦣<p>Les presento mi nuevo reproductor de música para el rincón de trabajo en casa. Syralist<p>Okay, <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a> war eine Vollkatastrophe.
Syralist<p>Ich glaube ich schaue mir am Wochenende mal <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a> genauer an. Könnte ein weiterer Baustein sein, um meine Abhängigkeit von <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/alexa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>alexa</span></a> zu reduzieren. <br>Wahrscheinlich in Kombination mit <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/homeassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homeassistant</span></a> , <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/musicassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>musicassistant</span></a> und <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/jellyfin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>jellyfin</span></a> .</p>
beta3<p>Regarding <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/RaspberryPi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RaspberryPi</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a>, we're still undecided in which form we would like to get the audio from the device.</p><p>Right now, we're using an old USB sound card and an old mini amp of mine, but ultimately it would be great to have a more compact setup in the kids' room.</p><p>The current options are:<br>* Add an amp to the board (with hardware volume knob)<br>* Add a DAC to the board<br>* Use a USB to audio dongle<br>* Use an HDMI audio extractor<br>* Buy a cheap external DAC/amp combo</p><p>Any suggestions? <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/hifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hifi</span></a></p>
beta3<p>My daughter and I made some progress with our <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>volumio</span></a> project. Since we're still undecided about the case (maybe we're waiting for the updated SmartiCase to be available), we've decided to build something on our own for now. The project needed almost all of our "useful" duplo stones. The USB soundcard is hidden inside. <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/hifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hifi</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/nerdparenting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nerdparenting</span></a></p>
beta3<p>I did some major restructuring of my <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/hifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hifi</span></a> setup and obtained an (almost) all-in-one device from Advance Paris.</p><p>I'm very happy with it right now. Even the basic, simple things, like listening to my local radio station are fun now.</p><p>The only major weak point is it's somewhat rudimentary network streaming capabilities via the manufacturer's app, but I didn't expect to retire my <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>volumio</span></a> device anyway.</p>
beta3<p>Regarding the <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>volumio</span></a> project I mentioned yesterday, I'm still confused about several aspects of audio via USB. For example: is a USB DAC simply a soundcard to the OS?</p><p>We didn't go the route of adding a DAC HAT to the Raspberry Pi. Instead, I wanted to use a USB dongle for simplicity. However, the Oehlbach USB Bridge - actually a headphone amplifier - I had in mind did not really work (volume too low). In the end, I used an old USB audio interface that I had lying around (Maya 44 USB).</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/hifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hifi</span></a></p>
beta3<p>Yesterday, I've set up a <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>volumio</span></a> device for my daughter together with her.</p><p>We regularly go to the library and I rip the audio book CDs she borrows with a one-click script based on <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/abcde" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>abcde</span></a> and copy them to the family NAS. She then used to listen to them with my Volumio (streaming from the NAS) in the living room. Now she can listen in her own room as well.</p><p>The new device is essentially a Raspberry Pi with a touch screen. The hard part now is to build a case for this thing.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/nerdparenting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nerdparenting</span></a></p>
John Foley<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://hachyderm.io/@skolima" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>skolima</span></a></span> I've been using <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a> for the last year or so and am quite pleased with it. It appears that their premium version may accomplish what you're looking for. <br><a href="https://volumio.com/get-started/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">volumio.com/get-started/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
John Foley<p>One slight bummer about upgrading my <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>volumio</span></a> music project to a <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/raspberrypi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>raspberrypi</span></a> 4b was that I had to get rid of my little box that held the Pi Zero 2w so well. </p><p>But tonight I'm happy to have repurposed it as a house for both a local <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/WLED" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WLED</span></a> install and my <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/pihole" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pihole</span></a> and that it will continue to take decals.</p>
Cian Ó hAnnrachán - Cian Han<p>In order to maintain some semblance of productivity on the last Friday of the year, I set up an old <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/raspberrypi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>raspberrypi</span></a> to run <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>volumio</span></a>, and now I have an internet radio. Still figuring out how to get it to play my MP3s, but making progress!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/internetradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>internetradio</span></a></p>
John Foley<p>Finally upgraded my <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Volumio</span></a> setup from the Pi Zero 2W to a Pi 4b. But after unsuccessfully getting my <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Hifiberry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hifiberry</span></a> DAC+ Zero to work on either setup, I'm thinking it might be time to send it back to them for a hardware inspection. Either way, it's great to have all my digital music back up!</p>
Niels<p>hardware should be able to pull it off since <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/roon" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>roon</span></a>, <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/volumio" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>volumio</span></a>, and <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/moode" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>moode</span></a> all run 24-bit music fine on the same thing.</p>
