This time it's back to the 1.3 megapixel Sony MavicaFD85 floppy disc based camera. Can't see much in even this overcast daylight via the small lcd screen but colour rendition and auto functions trounce many other cameras of the time and later. Em-squared<p>A pic (click on pic to see full aspect) taken on my late Dad's last digital camera that he owned. The Panasonic TZ3 is a 7mp, Leica lensed CCD based camera with a 10x zoom. Manual controls are non existent bar a few presets. Em-squared<p>The trouble with a lot of the old cameras i have is that they're not that bad under ideal-ish conditions. Anyway the reclaimed vintage car again but in the full unretouched 1.3 megapixel resolution of the Kodak DC240 (1280 x 960). Its saving grace is its optical viewfinder as the digital one you just cannot make out in daylight.I had the very teardrop iMac blue one (DC240i) back in the day (matched my epson printer). Taken with the vintage floppy disc based camera we found on waste ground in glorious 1.2 megapixels (not bad really.Even a hint of bokeh). Em-squared<p>Got my 2nd hand compact flash card come for the Sony A200 (nearly bought a CF to micro SD adapter but this popped up at a good price) . Curious having an optical viewfinder and no live view in that you have to relearn manual exposure as you cannot see the result in real time. I'm frequently getting it wrong but learning. <br>I'm lucky that the super steady shot still works. It lives.<br>NO idea quite how as it was found on waste land in a thoroughly wet camera bag and has experienced some sub zero nights.<br>The battery charges (intermittent charging errors sorted themselves out) and has full capacity.<br>Sadly I gave away shed loads of floppy discs when I had to clear my parents house so have got to find some high density floppy discs.<br>As I've said before kids THROW NOTHING AWAY. Em-squared<p>The water inside the Mavica lens has evaporated after a night in a box of silica gel with the floppy disc flap (great band) prized open (for easy vaporisation purpose. Yes, that is a word... It probably isn't) so a nice clear picture is now seen on the LCD screen. 🇨🇦syncros<p>Last night at the bar, a gen Z dude I met was rocking this Sony Mavica FD7 from 1997 he got in eBay. Its 640x480 and records on 3.5" disc! My first <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/digicam" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>digicam</span></a> was in 2000 when it was up to 2 megapixels and 16mb memory cards. </p><p>The neatest thing for me was how you could feel the drive mechanism writing the file after each shot.
