❝For me, running 6-7 days a week for the past 27 years […] has nothing to do with willpower or motivation or streaking or accolades or recognition or any of that bullshit—it’s just what I do.

Extended my list of trails nearby further south and did a #longrun today around #haddebyernoor and #selkernoor. I passed the „Erikstein“ (a rune stone) and #Haithabu #Hedeby after enjoying yet unknown trails crossing swaps and with loads of stairs.
Anyone using Runna for trailrunning?
I looked into the app and to my understanding it only provides pace-based workouts. No option for HR based workouts. Is this correct? And if so how do you train when you are mainly doing trailruns where pace is not a good indicator especially in hilly terrein.
Wayout Backyard Ultra | 20 hours | 134K
Most of you already know by now; I had a wonderful (trail) backyard race. It started Friday at 20:00 where it was dark. Then we ran through the night and morning. And a bit more. I stopped after 20 hours with good legs and good mood. TBH: I was just very tired and mentally I didn’t have the attitude to keep on. Family time called (and food/sleep).

After six years without competitions (and six years of ageing), I ran another 100 km yesterday. Happily stayed under 10 hours.

Plus three such strategies to experiment with.
❝Athletic (physical) development, then, is really just a facet of athlete (psychological) development. […] Conveniently, psychological development happens within the process of physical development (i.e., training).

❝To be sure, you don’t have to run an ultra to experience adversity or ‘feel’ life […]. But I’d like to posit that if you did, you might just learn something about yourself that you didn’t expect to find.

Just came back from my long run. It was the first time ever, that I run at night. Started 8pm and came back 11:40pm. Feeling was good. Maybe because of the string coffee before start :)
I also tested 2 gels (high five and powerbar) and one bar (Xenofit). The powerbar gel caused some hickups in the stomach, whereas the Xenofit bar was hard to bite, but felt good once it was "down".

Trail run | 450m EG | 90 minutes
Before attending a family birthday I took the car to the neighbor city: Vejle. Where the EG is hiding. So I ran around there for like 90 minutes. Found out that a trail run race was organized there … race flags and runners all over the forest. So I had to be a bit creative to get around where they were having fun.
It was a very nice experience . Always love running there.
