Saw an article talking about Budgie Linux and I remembered I tested it out on my laptop when I was distro shopping. (Specifically Ubuntu Budgie) And again I was impressed by how nice it looked. So I don't remember why I discounted it during that time.

Thankfully I posted about it here. It would not resume from sleep/suspend properly. And it wasn't an nvidia driver issue either, did it on the intel driver too. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't have it installed at the moment but I am installing it on a different machine to see if it reacts the same.

I tested out PopOS Cosmic. It was not the worst. Nvidia drivers behaved. But Flatpak and Chrome Apps were buggy. Looks like I'm geaded back to Budgie. I did manage to get the drivers to behave but I never tested Chrome Apps. So I may be jumping from that too, TBD

Oh yeah, reminded why using nvidia drivers at your own risk is a thing. This was after waking from a suspend. Currently on the nvidia-driver-open-575 from their repo. Lets see if 570 is better/more stable post suspend.

Note: To my knowledge, suspending has a long history to not play well with nvidia on linux. Also, this is a P1Gen4 and I've had some issues in the past even in windows. Hope its not the GPU.

Saving a computer from e-waste, I set up my 2014 Mac Mini with Ubuntu Budgie 24.04. Short term goal of setting up is done, long term goal making it a (somewhat) distraction free computer for web dev and script writing with lower power requirements.

I can already tell Krita won't be a good experience on this machine. It was bad on MacOS, better on Linux but still... I still have my main workstation for art and games.
