MauriceElliott🍉
Finally making progress towards this.

Have watch batteries and a watch opener on the way, a pocket a6 notepad with a dot grid from Rhodia, I also found this for converting apple music playlists to mp3: https://ko-fi.com/s/26f6d9c3c3, still not decided on an mp3 player but that’ll be next.

One of my biggest desires is to easily program on the go, and I think the uConsole would kinda fulfill that. Debby
@sn0n

I appreciate your perspective! The idea of forking Android to create a new project is certainly intriguing. However, there are several important considerations.

First, forking Android could lead to compatibility issues, particularly with existing camera drivers and other hardware integrations specifically designed for the platform. This would create a significant workload for developers, who would need to rewrite or adapt a considerable amount of existing software to function with the new fork. Instead of spreading our community's efforts thin, why not focus on enhancing the existing software that can benefit everyone?

Additionally, we must consider the human resources required. Building a new operating system from scratch demands not only coding expertise but also strong connections with hardware manufacturers and carriers. These relationships are crucial.

Google and Alphabet initially launched Android with a vision of openness and accessibility. However, over time, their focus has shifted, leaving many of us feeling disconnected from those original ideals. As consumers, we have the power to choose better alternatives.

I’m currently exploring options like the #uConsole, #Pilt, and #PinePhone, which I find very promising. While it’s clear that many aren’t ready to fully embrace #Linux phones yet, there is significant potential in #LinuxMobile.

Let’s channel the energy into projects that can truly make a difference, rather than reinventing the wheel. Together, we can advocate for a more open mobile ecosystem! ✨

Laren
I gave in and ordered the uconsole. Skipped 4g considering I plan to get the transceiver array expansion board once it's available.

Evidently time to shipping is anywhere between now and three months, skewing towards the latter, so I figured now was a good time to make it happen.
