Kevin Klehr 🏳️‍🌈<p>DERRY GIRLS (NETFLIX)<br>We can't believe we just discovered this program. It's funny. It has heartfelt moments. Paul H :tinoflag:<p>Another recently completed TV series we have watched was Mobland (Prime). Ugly stuff really, almost redeemed because of the acting of Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, fake Irish accents and all. And Tom Hardy, the fixer, is even better and you find yourself feeling a bit sympathetic towards him. But it's a violent, crime-ridden saga of a gangland family who exist in a moral vacuum, and who swear a lot. The 'c' word is the new 'f' word now apparently. The body count piles up and the last two of the ten episodes are a set-up for season 2. Well done, yes, but in the end, hard to care what happens to any of them.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/TVReview" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TVReview</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/Mobland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mobland</span></a></p><p><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MobLand" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MobLand</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
Paul H :tinoflag:<p>We recently finished watching Code of Silence (TVNZ+ On Demand), a British crime drama about a deaf woman who uses her lip-reading skills to help the police solve a robbery. It stars Rose Ayling-Ellis, who is deaf herself, along with several other actors who are also deaf. She helps the police with a case but gets romantically involved with one of the suspects, which causes all sorts of plot twists - some of which stretch credulity a bit. But it is a fine police drama and well worth watching. Apparently, the production prioritised inclusion both in front of and behind the camera, featuring deaf, disabled, and neurodiverse people across departments.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/TVReview" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TVReview</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/CodeOfSilence" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CodeOfSilence</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/deaf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>deaf</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt30249123/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">imdb.com/title/tt30249123/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
