Hey, look, we actually have some tiny houses for the unhoused/homeless/vulnerable population going in. Hooray!

Safe housing (with bathrooms / lighting / trash / outreach) is an excellent first step here. Hopefully, they will be able to take advantage of this. In particular, maybe this will help some portion of the economic unhoused here (forced out by inability to pay rent for even a room with minimal job prospects and no family support net--ie many seniors living in cars, no other issues, just no money).

Just how small is 33 square metres? It’s about 350 square feet, or the size of a studio apartment in The Janion, specially built for short-term rental use in #VictoriaBC.

But a staff report to the City of Victoria is recommending that council consider allowing developers to build micro-units in new projects with minimum standards in place.

It’s an effort to create more units in a tight housing market, says Mayor Marianne Alto.

Alto says the report will come before council at its next meeting and, if approved, would have to be incorporated into the city’s official community plan.

As i moan about far too often, i'm a cynical pessimistic misanthropist, so i can't even begin to adequately describe how unnatural it feels to be praising some lovely human behaviour for a change. 😜

I really like the advent & concept of #TinyHomes, both for their sheer engineering & architectural ingenuity, plus the important role they can play in the national & global problem of housing shortages for peeps. I applaud all the clever peeps here unreservedly & with enthusiasm. Two more instances:
