Anyone have opinions about the best 12V fans for a boat cabin? 3 of the 6 Hella fans aboard are no longer functioning, so we need to start replacing them. #theBoatyard #sailing
After we returned to our slip we completed a task we've been meaning to do for months and keep forgetting. We hauled all of the anchor chain out onto the dock to inspect and measure it. Turns out we've got about 70m of chain marked every 10m. And it's firmly attached to the boat at one end! #TheBoatyard
My « see fife » hygrometer says: no painting today. #theBoatyard
Restoring the Aries self-steering gear... Swivel head on the ladder unsiezed, new shaft (now M10 instead of 3/8") and bushings... Someone had tried to undo one of the grub screws that were stripped by hammering in a Torx bit which then broke off and was embedded in... Took some doing to get it out. Drilled out the holes and tapped them as M6.
Just noticed that I forgot the mast step. Oops
Sanded the rest of the cabin today, gave it a good clean and varnished everything in #theBoatYard
About three quarters done. I might be painting next weekend in #theBoatYard
Sandig overhead in tight spaces sucks. #testedForYou in #theBoatYard
Not any more. I cleared the whole cabin and ripped out the liner. Boat-home improvement time in #theBoatYard …
I might do white epoxy primer. Or a clear coat so I can see where the hull is thin. Not completely sure yet what I’m going to do before the new insulation goes in.
Back in #theBoatYard. I didn't post a lot from the cabin of Igele because it has this really ugly liner which looks like it's all mouldy. No idea why somebody thought that that would be a great idea. But hey, the seventies where strange sometimes …
I wonder if this guy ever finished his boat projects.
2016, Brighton Marina.
Summer is here and the sun is scorching in NZ.
Today I built a deck cover from palette beams and a sail from the dumpster.
Keeps the sun and rain out while I patch the deck.
Pretty stoked to have completed the whole design and installation in a day.

Just rebuilding the raw water pump, facing it on the lathe at the Edinburgh Hacklab and cleaning up the inside… Just hope the tiniest bit of material taken off the inside doesn’t cause problems fitting a new cam plate (the bit that makes the impeller impel…#theBoatyard
Whangarei city had a guy fawks display on and #theBoatyard had front row seats
Been doing a lot of demolition on Irie. Taking off bits that have never been off since the boat was built, getting at quite a few spots that need steel replaced.

Someone threw away this beautiful engine sump pump, and I think it's begging to be converted into a beautiful drinking water tap.
