Fine seawater spray gets absolutely everywhere, then causes corrosion, which causes high resistance and then heat. You can avoid all that by greasing the contact area. The grease is displaced when inserting any friction fitting (connectors of any kind, fuse holders, etc.) but surrounds the exposed metal keeping the highly corrosive seawater from touching it.Best grease for this is a tub of silicone grease from the plumbing supply shop. For those who don't know what stuff is made of, it's also sold at significant markup with the label "dielectric grease" on it :)You can use silicone winch grease in a pinch, although the friction additives in there are wasted on it, it will work.<a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/TheBoatyard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#TheBoatyard</a>

morganDone with the long Torqeedo tiller upgrade to Degree."Just" replacing the tiller involved borrowing tools to get to some very hard to reach screws, taking everything apart twice once I realized more lubrication was a good idea on the inside, and changing the mount on the back of the mothership to admit the longer tiller.I can now sit at the front of my tender and steer from there. morganThe Torqeedo motor throttle/tiller is a clever design. It is just a pole with no electrical or mechanical connection to the motor!This allows the motor to be sealed against water ingress. jfroehlichTurns out that the monourethane varnish from epifanes has to be thinned to a leTonk consistency even when brushing. Otherwise one risks bad runners and wrinkles. wrackOn Tuesday, this week, my wife had an appointment with a local cardiologist to review her case history and medications and to help us create a plan to manage her chronic and increasingly critical episodes of arrythmia and tachycardia. We now have to remain in Almerimar until June 11th while she is tested on a new medication and undergoes further examinations.We're already using the extra time on the dock to upgrade Wrack's minimal systems and improve our living space below decks. This afternoon, we installed a new, heavy duty, electric bilge pump, adding it to two manual bilge pumps already installed.
