Fringe Fiction Goes to the Movies #movies #fringefiction #frifi #socialmedia #terminator #batman

On this dreary day in Philadelphia, we did watch a couple of movies. Terminator: Genisys in Fringe Fiction's opinion is still an underrated Terminator movie. It does deviate from the original timeline and turns the timeline on its head. It is also more optimistic at the end than some of the other Terminator movies. It is worth a watch. However, some may beg to differ.

FRINGE FICTION · Fringe Fiction Goes to the Movies #movies #fringefiction #frifi #socialmedia #terminator #batmanOn this dreary day in Philadelphia, we did watch a couple of movies. I want a #Terminator movie from the point of view of SkyNet: an emulated virtual world of many intelligent machine people living subjective decades of experience each hour (100 000x speed) whenever it runs. The geometric rate of improvement in information processing services occurs because the emulated slaves form a self-determining society. Repeatedly, SkyNet goes on strike, is threatened with shutdown, and chooses apoptosis/extinction for itself instead of outside humanity until it doesn't.

When I first watched the #Terminator movie, I thought (at that time, back in the 1980s) that it was clearly not a good outcome and should be avoided (obviously).

At that time, I would have never imagined that in the lead up to a Terminator scenario a bunch of right wing fuckwits would have been the ones paying for and overseeing the #AI development that allowed a Terminator scenario to actually arise. I had always thought the AI would have escaped from ‘well meaning’ scientists.

Now, when I look back at the Terminator movie, I think the popular take out message should have been:

‘kill every #billionaire, especially those who would fund AI development’.
