This is a gong mei white tea. I'm a little confused about the age. I know that I previously sampled a brick from 2009, but the vendor presently has a brick from 2012 on their website. I'm not sure which year is this brick. It was wrapped in foil, which was inconvenient, so I tossed the original wrapper.
It is totally oxidized. The aroma is dank and earthy. The taste is sweet and quite complex but somehow only in the front of my mouth.
I will link to the vendor in a responding post without tagging the tea bot.
one of my favorite potters (Gushu Studios) just released some new teaware and I snagged this beautiful set
An afternoon before and after stillness:
(i) 2001 Mengsa Old Tree aged puerh; and
(ii) Taku Sugimoto’s performance of part of Manfred Werder’s ‘ein(e) ausführende(r)’ (this was page 980).
Boxing Day = sleep in, have brunch. I opened a new Taiwanese milky oolong JUSTMAKE King Hsuan is really good with eggs benedict!
Just like starting over. New Jiri Lang bowl from Pu-erh.sk, following the unfortunate cat related demise of my previous well seasoned bowl. (2022 Fall Jingmai Red from Farmer-Leaf.)

One of the hits of #BookHunt I did in #SaoPaolo:
Collection of illustrations on #Chinese ancient #Teaware.
"中国历代茶具" or "Chinese ancient tea sets", obtained from Livraria Chinesa.

When you use ruyao or crackleware, gradually the cracks in the ceramics get dyed with tea stains.
However, if you just make tea in them, the stains are mostly on the inside of the teaware. Not very satisfying!
I noticed Peter from pu-erh.sk's crackleware was evenly stained inside and out, so asked what he did. He said he saves his spent leaves and when he has a bunch, brings some of his teaware to a simmer in water and spent tea leaves, then leaves them to soak overnight. Haha! OK, then! Definitely noticeably increases staining inside and out!

One of my favourite artisans, Helen Kong of Secret Teatime, is raising money for a residency!
Please check out and spread the word about Secret Teatime's online shop. There's beautiful handmade teaware (chawan, gaiwan, shiboridashi, yunomi, mugs, latte bowls) and workshops (the studio is in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada)!

(My chawan Burpy was born in Secret Teatime's workshops! I wrote about the experience: https://www.pillowfort.social/posts/2287564)

I have a question to whom may know more about the topic:
Recently, I've bumped into a list of "4 famous types of [Chinese] potteries" and learnt of the fourth of them, totally new to me, #RongChang from Chongqing, Sichuan.
The problem is that it's surprisingly obscure, likely due to novelty in application to teaware.
So, if you know something, please tell me!
Especially if there are Western-sided vendors for it!

New gaiwan to supplement my collection a bit on the unglazed side.
I found that for me an unglazed clay gaiwan works amazingly with green teas, so I ordered my second of that type. And, it is visually interesting too.
