#Trump and his #maga party have spent years telling us how they are for the people and not for the powerful, rich and elitist. How they will expose and drain the swamp of the criminals and pedophiles. How he will lower prices all the while prices are going up due to #trumpsalestax on Americans called #tarrifs.

Now we have seen the last several weeks how Trump and the #trumplicans are just like them. They are part of that group: the rich, the elitist and the group of child rapists. The #bigbeautifulbill gives tax breaks to Trump's powerful, rich friends and businesses while taking away from the rest of America. He is part of the #epstein ring. And now they are trying to cover-up things to the point of speaking with the lying and convicted perjurer #GhislaineMaxwell. I wouldn't believe anything she has to say. #MikeJohnson went so far as closing the house early so to help the cover-up.

I am sick to death with the ignorance (willfull or not) of the TV bobbleheads about tariffs. They, in general, perpetuate wrong ideas.

Import tariffs are a tax on trade, they increase the cost of imported goods and are paid by the consumer, unless there is a very bad sales agreement.
.
When the USA puts tariffs on imported commodities, it increases the cost of the import and raises the domestic price (in the USA) of those goods.
.
It is, in essence, a tax on USA residents and businesses.
.
Yes, it means reduced trade, and that hurts the USA as much as anyone else.

Sure, there is an argument for tarrifs when you are trying to protect struggling non-competitive domestic industry.

But that is not what Trumps tariffs are about.
.
Trump is deliberately causing disruption and reducing international cooperation. It's all about making him the centre of attention.

As with the tarrifs imposed by China on Australian produce, we (the rest of the world) should simply just ignore the USA and strengthen other trade.

We don't have to engage if we don't want to.

But sadly, the bobbleheads are addicted to hand wringing and moaning. So they will persist with their bullshit.
