My idea: some #goodVibes #hope and #beauty for difficult times. Made by my real human hands, mainly with #silk rests from sarees (#recycling waste) and #slowStitching.
One place for #art said: Our clients are too conservative for it.
Can you imagine that people could like it or is my idea too crazy? (If it would be a "thing" I could sell online.)

"Got My Mojo Working" is a #blues song written by Preston "Red" Foster and first recorded by #RAndB singer #AnnCole in 1956. Foster's lyrics describe several #amulets or #talismans, called #mojo, which are associated with #hoodoo, an early African-American folk-magic belief system. Being on bent wire means they move indipendently at different rates ( not shown so well here). I like that. My problem is hanging them from above. I need something to hang them from. In the studio, I worked on a way to display the talismans yesterday. I think it works. ( shown here on the ground but can be shown on tables, etc.) There are 50 to go which will make up into an Installation. I have health issues that make it difficult to do the heavier work (Sawing wood and what have you) so it takes time. I'm not so good at sawing wood, so will have to be more careful with the jigsaw. Cutting the acrylic mirror to size is fun (not!). #art #mastodon #fediverse #Talismans
I am still grabbling with how to show an installation of my talismans. Sort of silly really as I don't have a venue (any gallery interested please do contact me) An important part of the installation is the text(story) but I don't want to put that out there on its own. Ideally I want the works to hang down from fishing line. There's a lot of them. I've completed the talismans I've worked whilst I've been in Wales this time. Along with some drawings which I wasn't thinking of as related ( but who knows, I'm only the artist making these ). Talismans on the floor of a small, beautiful 13th Century Welsh church that overlooks the sea. These are part of a multi part artwork I'm working on over time that I hope will become an installation. This is #November, when the old people would gather for their early #winter #spells and place strange ornaments along the coast. These #rituals were and still are important to keep the Sea #Crone from unleashing her anger.
They use these #charms and #talismans that bring those rays of light on an otherwise angry ocean.
