Over the past few years, I've suggested quite a few times that this rather beautiful old lamp base outside the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow should be painted up to make it stand out a lot more. Well, it looks someone is finally doing it! Thanks to Glasgowpixman for their post which made me aware of this.

22/52 Guiding Light
Sunday evening, I still had to take this week's shot. So I went for a walk, looked for a view and shot this shot. To be honest, I was distracted by a completely different scene I'd taken earlier, had a nice talk with another photo guy - so I almost forgot about the lantern I'd originally set out for... But finally I got the job done

Hard to catch them actually casting light up here at the 52nd parallel in June ;) But this guy is waiting to light up the park again when fall arrives.

昨夕(5/28)のミラノ工科大学 PoliMappers 街灯フィールドマッピングは4人で、POI入力ツールのEverydoorアプリ動作確認と、現地入力テスト。
大まかな街灯位置はMapillaryの機械学習によって一時的にマッピングされているが、過剰に抽出されているので、そこからの人間によるValidation作業が非常に重要。

昨日はミラノ工科大学のYourhMappersチーム PoliMappers として、キャンパス周辺の街灯フィールドマッピングに参加。欧州の中では比較的治安の良いミラノの街も、まだまだ街灯のない暗い道もあり、経験的に分かってはいるものの、一つの定量データとして重要な地物であることを再確認できました。Mapillaryのデータも、今後はしっかり街灯が写り込むように意識して歩こう。
