It has been an enjoyable weekend. Spent Saturday morning with Dad as usual and we sorted out some paperwork that we'd both kept forgetting about. He gave me a box of his books (the memoir) to drop off at the bookshop, which I'll do this week.
Made soup in the afternoon and listened to a podcast about goal setting. Talking with friends during the week, I'm trying to work out what work is going to look like for me in the next 20 years. Big thinky thoughts. I am really loving free weekends with no work (although I have some freelance jobs coming up soon, most likely) and the idea of going back to 50 or 60 hour weeks doesn't appeal at all.
Today I went to see Mum and she was alert and recognised me – then I went to put the flowers in her room and when I came back out, to my surprise, Dad had arrived and was sitting there next to her! It was kind of great to all spend time together for a change. He left after a few minutes and I stayed until lunchtime, took her to her table and then gave her a hug and left. A good visit.
This arvo I took Kid1 and Kid2 to the camping shop to get Kid1's very overdue birthday present (tent and hiking pack) and to get some plants for me. Tonight is reading and journalling and hopefully an early night. It'll be a full on week of work and some errands and at least one social thing but also: #gardening
Pictures are of the new plants and the tiny spider we spotted in the windowsill parsley
