What would be a major accomplishment on your current project if you could complete it this month?

I'd love to complete the 1st draft of the final book in a series.
I've got 39k written & aiming for around 60-70k.
But I've received first round of edits for another book from my publisher so that takes precedence.

Considering *everything* I have to do this month, it's... not likely.

#Writing #Writers #WritingCommunity #WritersOfMastodon #AmWriting #Scriberspace

Progress of any kind, on any project is would be stellar and worthy of celebration. So I'm taking it word by word, day by day.

Have been for months. It would be great to finish that.

What would be a major accomplishment on your current project if you could complete it this month?

I hope to stay on schedule with this round of edits. With everything going on in general, it may be difficult, schedulewise, for the next book overall. It's all out of my control, though.

This is especially because it's a seasonal book that would need to come out in fall of next year--if not, it'll have to be 2027.

Trevor
#ScribesAndMakers for September 5: What would be a major accomplishment on your current project if you could complete it this month?

My #TRONtober project is well underway but I'm already feeling the march of time. It's a TRON: Legacy Halloween costume for my 5-year-old. I've got a thing full of EL tape nearby, a roll of EVA foam in the basement, and a prototype child-sized 3D-printed disc on my desk. It's coming together well so far.

By the end of September, I want:
- the disc, including electronics, complete.
- the EVA foam vest patterned, prototyped, cut, assembled, Plasti-Dipped, and backed with fabric for strength.
- Electronics for the vest, including leads for arms and legs, installed and tested.
- Fabric & Plasti-Dip tests done for the leggings and skirt.
- Sew the skirt and install it into the vest.

Basically, I want an assembled MVP of the costume by October 1. I don't want to rush this one.

Then, in October, I can add pieces to the MVP instead of frantically finishing the core pieces. Armour and electronics for the arms and legs. Add a slight blue sheen to the Plasti-Dipped surfaces, not to match the actual costumes but to match how they appear in the movie. The things that will be nice to have, but won't make or break my kiddo's enjoyment of the costume if they don't happen.

If you want to come hang out as I work on it, I'll be streaming some of the work at https://twitch.tv/lovemakeshare.

That seems like an unreasonable stretch…

All the more reason to try, I suppose. 😁

I'm at the just keep plodding along stage. My favorite part, actually.

TinJar
#ScribesAndMakers 5. What would be a major accomplishment on your current project if you could complete it this month?

Finalize the rest of the storyline for my WIP. The broad outline is clear but lots of details need to be worked out, especially, about the climax.

Kagan MacTane (he/him)
In essence, I'm now shifting from plotting into pantsing.

If I can get chapter 6 done by month's end, it'll be something of an achievement. 2/2

#ScribesAndMakers

Kagan MacTane (he/him)
#ScribesAndMakers day 5: What would be a major accomplishment on your current project if you could complete it this month?

Honestly, things are in a pretty disorganized state right now. I've just finished chapter 5, which is the limit of what I had outlined before I started. I've started on chapter 6, and have 3 scenes progressing. (One will definitely be the first scene of the chapter; the other two, I'm not sure yet where they'll go.) 1/2

What would be a major accomplishment on your current project if you could complete it this month?

I'm in the middle of a Middle Grade chapter adventure book - I started it and then got distracted with family/house projects. Too much going on! I would love to get back into the world I created and actually finish this manuscript - so I can move on to the next! :pen:

Nisaa (she/her)
#ScribesAndMakers 5. What would be a major accomplishment on your current project if you could complete it this month?

Well, it will be a major accomplishment when I finish the embroidery on my current project. I should actually be done with that this weekend!

The 'stretch goal' will be finishing the bag that the embroidery will be a part of. I don't *need* to finish it this month. My deadline is for an event a day after my birthday in mid-October, so I'd like to finish it before then. 🙃

Stacey
#ScribesAndMakers

Day 5. What would be a major accomplishment on your current project if you could complete it this month?

I'm writing backstory stuff for my first book. I've realized that since I'm such a pantser (but type/write quickly) it's often faster for me to write more "extra" things to help me understand the story itself. So that's what I'm doing, and if I could finish that I'd be happy with my work this month.

Chryptina
#ScribesAndMakers
Can't really answer today's question, mainly because I don't really have anything to finish other than the hoodie, which may simply become a neverending work in progress.

Now, if I can get myself coordinated enough to get my TSA pre check done, that would be an accomplishment. Oh, and also figure out how to smuggle one, maybe two crusty old chihuahuas on my trips because I'm going to miss those little creeps. 😂
