If you wanted to *halt*, the command was haltsys(ADM).</p><p>Now, poweroff/halt/haltsys/reboot/&amp;al. all have options where they can pretend to be each other. systemd is the main culprit for this. upstart and other toolsets didn't go quite as far as systemd's tools do.
