@nev Another cute bee you might try to find is Osmia inermis, a rarely-photographed species with a Palearctic distribution. Their mud-and-chewed-leaves brood chambers can be found by FLIPPING ROCKS. To narrow down which rocks to turn over you should look for pollen-laden mason bees disappearing into pebble fields. #bees #rocks #osmia #insects https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/203170093

This photo, taken from a viewing point at the Bastei rocks in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, which dates from November of last year, is one of my favorite pictures from the entire last year.
To me, this scene with the jagged rocks surrounded by a turbulent sea of mist seems as if we had been transported not only to another time but even to another planet.
I've been thinking for a long time about what kind of text I could write about this, which is why I'm only posting it now. Now I have come to the conclusion that the significance of the picture is completely sufficient and I have actually already written far too much.

Dieses Foto, aufgenommen von einem Aussichtspunkt an den Bastei Felsen im Elbsandsteingebirge, welches aus dem November des vergangenen Jahres stammt, ist eines meiner Lieblingsbilder aus dem dem gesamten letzten Jahr.
Auf mich wirkt diese Szene mit den schroffen Felsen, die von einer aufgepeitschten See aus Nebel umtost werden, als wären wir nicht nur in eine anderen Zeit sondern sogar auf einen anderen Planeten transportiert worden.
Lange habe ich überlegt, was ich hier für einen Text dazu schreiben könnte, darum poste ich es auch erst jetzt. Nun bin ich zu dem Schluß gekommen, dass die Aussagekraft des Bildes völlig ausreichend ist und ich eigentlich schon viel zu viel geschrieben habe 😉.

Went on a nice little hike today, which I’m definitely going to do more often now that I’m living closer to a major park. It’s still very early spring, but I saw some flowers starting to peek out. Also I found the rock I’m going to go live under.

A little toy of the Transformers character Hound, a green Jeep-themed robot, photographed from behind sitting on a rock looking out at the brown early-spring forest landscape. It’s the Iron Factory toy of him, specifically.

The same toy and setting as the last photo, but from the front, showing more toy and less landscape.

A gap between two large rock formations, forming a narrow shelter. I bet you wouldn’t hear any news at all living there…

I loved this scenic view in Capitol Reef National Park because of all the layers of flora and rock formations from a foreground of shrubs and grasses to distant background red rock cliffs. The scene shows the rugged beauty of the desert environment.
