noromamai<p>Finished mod and restoration of the Atari Lynx II. Re-capped, McWill (clone) LCD Mod (did not install VGA out), replaced speaker with a better one, replaced power circuit parts. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/atari" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>atari</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/lynx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>lynx</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrorevival" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrorevival</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a></p><p>Check here for the project thread:<br><a href="https://social.consoledated.com/@noromamai/114225579569395454" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">social.consoledated.com/@norom</span><span class="invisible">amai/114225579569395454</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>Finished my PC-Engine Duo project, only took 8 months. This is my beloved Duo which I got in the 90's, my 1st PC-Engine. Re-capped, some caps were leaking and started corroding the volume wheel (cleaned and fixed), installed an RGB amp, installed an FRAM mod and didn't have to do anything for the drive/laser. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/hudsonsoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hudsonsoft</span></a></p><p>Follow the link for the full adventure:<br><a href="https://social.consoledated.com/@noromamai/113579955949522829" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">social.consoledated.com/@norom</span><span class="invisible">amai/113579955949522829</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>All good! Also made the wires come up in the right order so next time I open her up, I will not feel uncomfortable seeing the wires criss crossing each other. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/dekita" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dekita</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/PC%E3%82%A8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B8%E3%83%B3" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PCエンジン</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>Took the opportunity to redo the wires from the Hu6260 to the RGB amp with better silicone wire that @aergan.com recommended (thanks!). But will have to stop here because I can't dremel at this hour. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrorevival" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrorevival</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>I was hoping to show off the Duo reassembled, but once I turned it on, I am missing colors. I knew right away what caused it. I ran the RGB wires via the front and there is not enough room once the top shell is screwed back on. It will pinch the wiring and lose signal. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>Wasn't sure if I had to remove the cap/battery, so I asked Zaxour and got an answer right away. It can be left it or removed, doesn't matter. So then I tested it and it works! Time to close her up now. Good for another 10 years at least. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrorevival" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrorevival</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/PC%E3%82%A8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B8%E3%83%B3" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PCエンジン</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>Soldered @zaxour.bsky.social's NEC FRAM Adapter in place. Cleaned up, Positioned the FRAM chip (FM16W08-SG) and soldered it onto the adapter. Let's see if it works. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/PC%E3%82%A8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B8%E3%83%B3" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PCエンジン</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>Removed the SRAM chip. Used low melt solder, flux and the heat gun. Then cleaned it up with IPA. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/PC%E3%82%A8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B8%E3%83%B3" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PCエンジン</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>Finished (half) of my modular SCART cable project that I started halfway through repairing/modding my PC-Engine Duo. Finished the SCART end that has an aviation grade 10-pin connector. Now to make the ends that connect to the consoles. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/scart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scart</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/rgb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rgb</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>Had a "great" idea to use aviation grade plugs to make modular SCART cables. Different SCART heads (caps, no caps, etc) and a separate end for each console. Except that the cable is too thick and I don't have any leeway now to solder the connector and pull it over the cable. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/rgb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rgb</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a></p>

Removed the unneeded components and put them in a bag for safe keeping. Will keep the brightness dial as I will not adding a VGA port to the Lynx. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrorevival" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrorevival</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrogamimg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrogamimg</span></a></p>
noromamai<p>Replaced the speaker of the <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/atari" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>atari</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/lynx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>lynx</span></a> 2 (8Ohm, 2W) with one from <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/aliexpress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aliexpress</span></a>. Fits almost perfectly, diameter is the same, but the edge is just a little thicker, so need to push it in a bit harder. On the left is the original, on the right the new speaker. Next a sound comparison. <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retromodding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retromodding</span></a> <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/retrorevival" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrorevival</span></a></p>

DerTobi<p>Just released a preview video for my current project: a DIY open hardware TFT display mod for the classic Game Boy (DMG01). noromamai<p>Picked up my <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> Duo again, put it aside after I couldn't get the RGB mod working. Swapped in a <a href="https://social.consoledated.com/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> rgb amp board meant for the OG PC-Engine because it has a mini-din socket.
