Wenn spazieren geht der Reiher,
Denkt er über manches nach:
Ob sich's besser fischt am Weiher
Oder besser noch am Bach.

Endlich hat er sich entschlossen,
Geht zum Weiher hin und fischt,
Und da weilt er unverdrossen,
Bis er einen Fisch erwischt.

Warten, das versteht er prächtig,
Langeweile kennt er nicht;
Was er tut, er tut's bedächtig,
Und Geduld ist seine Pflicht. -

📝 Since the grey heron was in front of my hiding place for so long, I was able to photograph him in many poses.
ℹ️ The gray heron (Ardea cinerea) grows up to 102 cm in length and has a
with a wingspan of up to 195 cm. Its diet includes fish, amphibians and mammals.
