Reportedly: It was built in 1949, builders number 30034 as SP 5100, SP Class DERS-200. In 1950 it was rereclassed to SP Class DF-200. In 1963 it was rereclassed to SP Class DS-500. In 1965 it was rereclassed to SP Class GS407-1.<br>Reportedly: It was retired in 1976. It became Weyerhaeuser 2901, then East Portland Traction 5100 then Samuels Steel Products 5100, then Oregon Pacific 5100. The 5100 was reportedly on display at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center. Reportedly: it was built in April 1965 as SP 4866, construction number 3401-22, SP Class DF-504. In 1965 it was renumbered SP 7125, SP Class AF628-2. In 1973 it was downgraded to switcher status and became 3116, SP Class AS628-1. Steve Sloan<p>SP 3101, a Gator in Oregon<br>Southern Pacific (SP) "alligator" 3101 was in the Eugene, Oregon power pool on Friday, June 21, 1974.<br>SP 3101 was an ALCo RSD15, DL600B, SP Class AS624-1. Reportedly, it was built in 1959, construction number 83484, as SP 4817 class DF-502. It was leased in 1960 to T&amp;NO as 251. It became SP 5161 in the 1965 renumbering as class AF624-1. In 1972 it was reclassified to switcher Class AS624-1 and then renumbered SP 3101. It was retired and sold in 1978.<br>According to OPRRMS years ago on Altamont Press, The vertically mounted disk shaped object on the top of the cab is a, "Receiver for the in-cab hump signals. Used on hump engines at Eugene, LA and Houston until replaced by more a modern radio system. Reportedly, it was built in 1953 as Pittsburg &amp; Shawmut (PS) SW9 232. The eastbound was powered by BNSF 5808, 5728, 6578 and 5096. The westbound had 6856 as lead unit.<br>BNSF 5808 is a GE ES44AC.
