Earlier this week, I realized my front #bike #tyre had a slow #puncture. A minor inconvenience to replace the #InnerrTube as I always try to have a spare one just in case (it’s a matter of when, not if). So, I replaced the tube and pumped it up to about 6 atmospheres (the outer tyre is rated for 6-9 atmospheres) but as I was putting my tools away, the inner tyre exploded with a large bang, just like a balloon would, only louder.

This tiny thorn caused me a #puncture today.

Thankfully, I am #prepared for this inevitability and always carry a toolkit and a spare tube inside the frame of my #brompton, aswell as a pump on the frame.
(I love how neatly all of that packs.)

I could've patched the tube but decided to simply swap it and patch it later.
It took a while because it's my first time but I wasn't in a hurry.

There was a really nice bench nearby to work on and a small #creak to wash my hands in afterwards.

Jaha, blev att meka lite innan jag kunde cykla hem idag. Punktering höger fram. Tur jag hade torrt och varmt utrymme att vistas i.

Got my other bike out of the garage to find it had a flat tyre. The inner tube had split where it bears against a (rim tape protected) spoke end. There were similar cracks forming at almost every other spoke end. Not seen that before.

Here's my repair kit on my commuter. 3 cable ties, spare front and back light, head torch for night time repairs, bike spanner, 15mm spanner for back axle, small screwdriver, electrical tape, 3 gas charges to inflate tubes, charger leads to charge from my front light, Allen keys, and a spare tube.

Edit - oh yeah I have spare clear glasses because flies are a big problem on my commute.

Do you think it's excessive, just about right, or have I forgotten anything?

If anyone needs me, I'll be here by the side of this motorway in Kildare for the next 60-90 minutes. Punctured, I can change the wheel, except when the wheel has bonded to the brakes... #puncture #weekendFail

I found the rear tyre totally flat with a sharp blade of metal sticking out.

Love a #flextime afternoon off for some #mtb #cycling #velophants. Not so much fun when it's - #puncture about a mile or so out (oops, no sealant) - decide to walk back home rather than faff putting tube in - get fed up and put tube in - decide if the tube is in I might as well ride - get to turn point - puncture again - pump up - ride a bit - pump up again - ride a bit more - pump up a third time and make it home.

Still #betterthanwork!
