Joined a new customer project today. The project started recently. Customer provides project director and business analysts. We provide architects/devs.
Watched a recap of a recent kickoff meeting to get familiar with the business domain and the project setup.
In this meeting I noticed that they presented a rough and very (very very) optimistic timeline.
Me: Were any technical people involved back then when you were setting the timeline?
Project Director: No. The dates are fixed. Why?
Me:
We’re constantly improving how work packages relate to one another. Starting today, we’re introducing a new relation type: “It’s complicated.”
OpenProject now supports unclear dependencies and emotional baggage. Because sometimes… the relation really isn’t easy to define.
Ah yes, the shocking revelation that #LLMs aren't magic wizards solving business logic problems. Who knew AI chatbots weren't the secret sauce for world domination?
Stick to #APIs, unless you enjoy watching your project self-destruct in spectacular fashion.

@frankie Welp, since I don't have any ideas, I asked ChatGPT... and here are the recommendations it gave:
Wekan - Simple, customizable, self-hosted kanban board.
Taiga - Agile project management with kanban support.
Kanboard - Lightweight, no-frills option for kanban.
Restyaboard - Advanced features, free Trello alternative.
Focalboard - Newer tool, good for task tracking and integration with Mattermost.

found out that both the venerable PlantUML and Mermaid.js have Gantt chart diagrams.
and they are both accessible in Julia with Kroki.jl. and although Kroki is presented as a free SaaS, it can be self-hosted by running a single .jar file.
combined with Pluto.jl notebooks, it's a strong FOSS solution and gives a lot of flexibility.

We just hired this guy. I don’t think he knows how to do the things we hired him for. I think he’s all charisma and enthusiasm.
Which is great, those are not unimportant characteristics, but still. :/

6/7 As a result of all of the above, I'm pretty experienced with both solo and team #projectManagement.
Other interests: I'm generally a big nerd. Solarpunk optimism is life. Neurodiversity and disability advocacy are important to me. Huge into Obsidian and git. I love FOSS and self-hosting.
