Had a scare flashing the open firmware to my #PineBudsPro. Followed the instructions but the left ear wouldn't pair. Tried flashing the backups but then earbuds wouldn't pair with each other. Made a last attempt at the flashing the open firmware and it took! Thanks to the team at @PINE64 and the devs from github.com/pine64/openpinebuds

Oh yeah!! My @PINE64 are here. Got them in my skull already and really impressed.

They sound good, fit nice. Easy to use, not overly flashy. Great initial impression.

My only complaint is that pause is a double tap instead of a single. But I reckon that's fixable in firmware :)

Anyone order ? How long did they take to ship? I'm not in a rush but getting concerned they seem to have been sitting there for over 10 days without update?

Maybe this is normal?

woah i can't believe i haven't yet noticed, the community maintained firmware for the @PINE64 has been put up on github! i'm excited to see where this project goes. i'll work on a follow up article to my first impressions of the device once i publish the infinitime spotlight tomorrow on my blog. hooray for the pine64 community!

Turns out that flashing firmware on the is easier said than done. The tools to do so won't actually build on an ARM64 system, which is all I have handy. The only x86 machine I have around is one running Haiku, which failed to build the required tools as well.

I guess I'll have to wait until this process is more streamlined :blobcatshrug:
