#KDE updated to 6.4 on #postmarketos on my #pinebookpro :-)
I really like my new (used) ARM laptop #thinkpadx13s with Linux. A big step from my previous #pinebookpro in snappyness.
#opensuse and #ubuntu work really well. Ubuntu even has a no frills standard out of the box installer.
LEGO Island (isle-portable) on the #PinebookPro at playable framerate.
Thanks Anders Jenbo for the patch (https://github.com/isledecomp/isle-portable/pull/348)
I was thinking about this because I realised part of the reason I can still use my #PineBookPro for daily stuff is that 4GB is still a perfectly serviceable amount of RAM for normal work in 2025. Yeah, you'd like more, but you can make do with it just fine.
Bah, my #pinebookpro seems to be experiencing some swollen battery issues. It was enough that when I took the back cover off to check, one of the screws partially let go. Unfortunately it was one of the hinge ones, which will make closing the lid more delicate going forward I fear.
Really hope the consumer space gets more Linux-capable ARM laptops soon. (with US keyboard) Looking like I might need a replacement. :(
@futurebird It's not the strangest computer I own or have access to, but it is the strangest one I use for "normal" fediverse access. It's a £100 ARM-based #PineBookPro I bought back when they were new, and installed #PostmarketOS on. It saved me in a pinch at work when I had a laptop die on me, although I definitely drove it harder than it wanted that day.
I'm running absolute nerd-bait stuff on this thing: #sway, #waybar, etc. My normal laptop is straight GNOME, usually.
@requiem yep! I use openbox on my #PinebookPro for this reason. Mainstream browsers and “big apps” like LibreOffce are still kinda slow, but everything else is surprisingly snappy.
I haven’t even been particularly minimalist about the underlying Manjaro install (like KDE Plasma is an option when I want it)
Initial support for the USB-C port on the #PinebookPro has been committed to current - requires a custom kernel build for now.
And support for user/group-based filtering has been added to the NPF firewall!
Hurg. Just upgraded my #PinebookPro to #PostmarketOS 24.12 and now I can't keep the wifi working for more than a few packets at a time. No firmware changes I can see. Maybe it's the change from iwd to wpa_supplicant? I hate broadcomm chipsets...
@selea I ran NetBSD 10 on my #pinebookpro for a few months. Unfortunately, the hinge broke on the lid and I was unable to fix (smelled magic smoke too) Ran well otherwise. Here are my notes:

My #pinebookpro is now running #netbsd
gang here I come
No, this is the X260.
The #PinebookPro is sitting on my shelf. I might try repairing it, though.
I like epaper, but for a larger device, it's a bit too expensive, still.
I still have my kindle, but I'm looking for a new(er) laptop daily-driver for now.
My #PinebookPro has gotten rather beat-up and may need more care than I can give it, in terms of hardware fixes.
Ricing my #PinebookPro for fun.
My Thinkpad X200t is obviously IPS, as I can move the screen around and it never changes.
My #PinebookPro is (I think) TN, and my X260 is really obviously TN, it looks like total crap unless you're at the correct angle(s). It was the base configuration; a detail I missed when buying it.
Most mid-range-to-high-end LCDs are IPS. Only the really cheap stuff is going to be TN, generally.
Well, THAT sucks.
#PinebookPro
Feels nice to use the #PinebookPro once again.
Was thinking of getting a bigger #eMMC module for my #PinebookPro, but the one that was recommended was $50 for 256GiB which is a little... ridiculous.
I think I'm just going to wipe the 60GiB stock eMMC with #pmOS, fix up the loose screws, and get a 256GB microSDXC card for extra storage.
