Stumbled upon PikaPods last night and set up Linkding in a matter of minutes. And now I want to self-host all the things
Seriously in love with this!

@ronnylam @rsalmond On a positive note: I'm not sure how exactly #PikaPods does it, but it is pretty much the only site that needs only a single click in the password manager to fill in all three! Feels so right!
(Probably the 2FA field just exists the entire time and only gets displayed with JavaScript once the server says it's needed?)
"Instant Open Source App Hosting
Run the finest Open Source web apps from just $1.20/month."
I can't endorse this company's services without at least trying them, so keep your grain of salt handy. But I like the concept.
Adding to the list of possibilities, I use #listmonk (https://listmonk.app/) hosted on #PikaPods (https://www.pikapods.com/) for e-mail lists. Costs roughly 1.50 € per month.
I only deal with around 100 subscribers, so I'm not sure how well it scales or how that affects the cost, but the documentation says it can handle millions.
PikaPods now has Blinko (an interesting notes app with some LLM features) and Docmost (a private wiki/knowledge base).
Just installed Hoarder for my bookmarks.
I finally did something about the links I had scattered across services and put them all somewhere central for myself: #Linkding on #PikaPods Now my 28k links have a nice searchable home. https://artlung.com/blog/2024/10/31/owning-my-own-bookmarks-over-20-years/ #IndieWeb
And shout out to #Netscape for inventing bookmarks.
@randomphrase Incredibly impressed with both #Linkding and #Pikapods. Up and running with more than 10,000 bookmarks in less than 15 minutes. Now to check out the bookmarklet and the Alfred workflow.
New Blog Post: My blog cost USD44 a year

Pikapods makes hosting anything, from Nextcloud, to WordPress, to Audiobookshelf, a total breeze!
A week ago I published my blog post on #MobileLinux and the benefits for children.
Clearly there's an appetite for this sort of long read...thankyou to all who have read and commented.
In case you haven't, you can pop over to https://clubb.cymru/2024/04/25/linux-mobile-safer-phone-for-childern/ and see what all the 'fuss' is about
BTW the web stats are from #Umami hosted on #Pikapods, strong recommend from me, if you are using #GoogleAnalytics now's the time to bin it.
@jason123santa I use #Umami hosted on #Pikapods and I couldn't be happier with both
@richardnosworthy @carlmorris @rhysw Mae #FreshRSS yn edrych yn ddiddorol. Gallu hostio ar dy server hunan neu ar #PikaPods

I gotta hand it to the folks over at PikaPods. I sent them a question about adding some environment variables to the HedgeDoc config, and they just did it. They added the env vars to their standard config within hours. No "file a feature request". No "get in line". They just did it. #PikaPods https://www.pikapods.com/
@blake I am 100% in favour of cloud providers hosting NodeBB as an app, and we intend on supporting them as much as we can.
If #PikaPods can bring down the cost of running a NodeBB (and undercut us to boot!) you can look at it one of two ways:
1. They be stealin' customers from us! ( )
2. A whole new market segment is now served by NodeBB via a third-party. ( )
Right now the only one I am aware of is @cloudron
Maybe something I can try for the purpose of learning #Rust is setting up a real-time communication channel in #NodeBB (i.e. a socket that the web UI could use to show real-time information, typing indicators, etc). Maybe it's too easy or too hard... I also have an audio processing project I intend on doing in Rust but I haven't managed to get myself to do that yet.
Also, I still want #PikaPods to have NodeBB. It might become affordable for a lot more communities that way! There's a request lodged for it in their feedback thing but there's currently no indication they plan on adding it.
@maique I'm guessing I'll be able to import my last saved #WordPress blog into pika. Yes?
Will it let me export and keep my blog if I choose to later* move to a regular* webhost?
I didn't see the size limit per app. The pika website doesn't spell out what they mean by "minimum required resources", and what it'll cost extra later if I go beyond the limit.
Hey @mastohost if I use my domain with #PikaPods, it won't affect my masto.evelynyap.com, will it?
