Wikipedia suggests it's a non-native ornamental, now naturalized. My bee balm went kaput last yr so I planted this native scarlet bee balm (likely Monarda didyma) last fall. Plant was so robust I was able to take clippings early on & start more plants in my 2nd garden. Hopefully I won't go without again

I collect seeds every yr but got a late start sowing these

. The original vendor called this variety "Neon" calendula. Calendula produce varied flower petals/color. Curled petals/burnt
