It's been more than a month when every night it drops below freezing in #petaluma in northern california. Freezing nights are not unusual here, but 40 of them in a row is unheard of. #climatechange
It's skunk mating season and the roads are littered with skunk carcasses. It's like a skunk sideshow gone wrong out there. Evidently the male skunks will walk up to five miles in one night looking for skunk nookie. And if you've ever seen a skunk waddle, that's a looong five miles.
So when I walk outside at night I have my flashlight on so I don't accidentally walk into a skunk. But tonight, to my surprise, Mr. Skunky's usual place was taken by a fat possum. He slunk away like the slunker all possums are.
