Hugo 雨果<p>My reason for using offlineimap is because it supports IMAP IDLE, but its IDLE support has been broken for years, so I use it with IDLE disabled.</p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/email" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>email</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/askfedi" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>askfedi</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/imap" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>imap</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/offlineimap" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>offlineimap</span></a></p>

I was using some of these tools one or two decades ago until I was tempted or forced onto GUI and cloud solutions by various projects. But now I can access my terminals from anywhere thanks to my <a href="https://aus.social/tags/tailscale" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tailscale</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/vpn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vpn</span></a> – no need for other people's clouds.</p><p>One of these days I'll write a proper blog post or series about this setup.</p>
Claudine C :antifa:<p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/Email" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Email</span></a> like it's the 2000s again? I am seriously considering adopting <a href="https://aus.social/tags/neomutt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neomutt</span></a> alongside <a href="https://aus.social/tags/offlineimap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>offlineimap</span></a> and <a href="https://aus.social/tags/notmuch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>notmuch</span></a> to help me deal with thousands of emails. I was a big fan of <a href="https://aus.social/tags/mutt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mutt</span></a> back in the day, until I started having to deal with HTML email (ugh) on a daily basis at work. I'll probably still use <a href="https://aus.social/tags/MailMate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MailMate</span></a> when necessary for sending fancy emails, but sorting, filing, and archiving email is so much faster on the <a href="https://aus.social/tags/commandline" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>commandline</span></a> and <a href="https://aus.social/tags/terminal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>terminal</span></a>.</p>
Claudine C :antifa:<p>I might be starting to draft a post about using mostly <a href="https://aus.social/tags/cli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cli</span></a> and <a href="https://aus.social/tags/tui" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tui</span></a> programs to engage with the internet in a slow, calm manner over the holidays. Starring <a href="https://aus.social/tags/offlineimap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>offlineimap</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/notmuch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>notmuch</span></a> and <a href="https://aus.social/tags/alot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>alot</span></a> for email, <a href="https://aus.social/tags/offpunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>offpunk</span></a> and <a href="https://aus.social/tags/w3m" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>w3m</span></a> for web, and <a href="https://aus.social/tags/tootcli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tootcli</span></a> for Mastodon. Yes that means I need to look into accessibility issues in the <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Hugo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hugo</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/PaperMod" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PaperMod</span></a> theme.</p>
Hessenhelden<p>Verwendet jemand von euch <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/OfflineImap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OfflineImap</span></a>? </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/OfflineImap3" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OfflineImap3</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Imap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Imap</span></a></p><p><a href="https://github.com/OfflineIMAP/offlineimap3" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/OfflineIMAP/offline</span><span class="invisible">imap3</span></a></p>
Rince<p>So... <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/offlineimap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>offlineimap</span></a> tut jetzt was ich will.
jtmoulia 🐁<p>More struggles with <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/offlineimap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>offlineimap</span></a> email sync handling malformed spam (unicode in the headers). I'd found a hack with manually adding the offenders' UIDs to skip lists but manual intervention is a pain.</p><p>Trying out <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/isync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>isync</span></a> (aka mbsync) instead and already impressed by 1) easy config, 2) useful and minimal UI and 3) speeeeed.</p><p>isync's speed is hitting gmail IMAP quota issues, but that was a gig or so into a multithreaded sync -- so it goes.</p>
Christian Tietze<p>I'm syncing my mail manually for 2 years now. Switched from <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/OfflineIMAP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OfflineIMAP</span></a> to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mbsync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mbsync</span></a> in the meantime. I'm still not sure if it's good or bad or neutral that it says:</p><p>Maildir warning: ignoring INBOX</p>

Rince<p>Okay, jetzt habe ich mal <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/mbsync" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mbsync</span></a> ausprobiert. Ja, es ist schneller. Aber es synct irgenwdie längst nicht alle Folder und bringt komische Fehlermeldungen (INBOX will er nicht aufmachen, einige Folder kann er lokal nicht öffnen, ...) das geht wohl wieder Richtung <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/offlineimap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>offlineimap</span></a></p>
