@shrugdealer $frnk / https://liberapay.com/exposur.es !
i'm building #offgrid, #resilient digital #community gardens / #commons like wikis, messageboards, etc to maintain access to knowledge and #communication during #climate #disasters or #repression!
AND
i'm working on a big migration for exposur.es, a safe haven for #queer, #trans, #disabled #artists, #SWers, #SexEducators, and others who have been the vicitm of #censorship on platforms like #Meta's #Instagram and #Bluesky from #Pixelfed to #Bonfire!
any and all support keeps these efforts going & growing!
Anyone tried building PVT panel out of PV panel cheaply? #diy Off the shelfs are much more expensive and PVT seems like a win-win-win*, you cool the panel for better efficiency while heating the water. #solar #offgrid #SolarPV
I am also wondering if heating the panels in the winter just enough to let snow fall off would be an option.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate
Ok, I’m about to get my first #meshtastic device. Choosing one from #muziworks: either an R1 with external antenna or H2T (also with an external antenna and GPS).
Will be using it for fun and if need be - for communication in case of blackouts. Also will definitely take it on hikes.
Which one should I get?
Can anyone advise me on designing an off-grid hot shower? It will be for paying guests, so it should be instant and foolproof to use.
I'm currently thinking to base it on a propane shower unit, drawing water from a butt using a 12v DC pump. Has anyone set up something like this? I have questions!

There's a job I have been successfully postponing for some months done. I decided to install a pair of 400w panels on the #offgrid battery shed, thinking we'd catch some light reflecting off clouds. In fact, it was a daft idea, and the panels never put out anywhere near their rated power.
So I exchanged the old pair of 190w panels for the 2x 400s, bodging securing it as my plan A worked out in the small hours of the night didn't work. Already we saw near-rated output today.

Kalo coming out of the solar cooker, just in time for lunch
Lunch was: kalo grown by my bf, and eggs from @saltphoenix . Topped with butter and chili sauce. I'm so grateful that I have these wonderful people in my life who share their bounty with me and feed me
If hollywood will really return to "traditional values" as Le Figaro writes, and expects there will be more movies about rural life, and religious themes involves, should we expect:
Will side effect of this be more people dreaming about #anarchism via #anarchoPrimitivism #offGrid #offGreed communities?

Some numbers. $2,500 is left on our fundraiser. We're halfway. I'd freaking love to hit that.
But if we can't, bare-bones I need $300 for a generator rental (we are off-grid and fully self-powered. More funds and I'll do bigger solar this gear), $100 for educational decor, and I pulled $700 from my (meager) savings for poorer campers already.
$1,100 would do a LOT.

BRUSSELS — BOOK LAUNCH — 29.4
→ How to make books more sustainable? During this evening, Low-tech Magazine will present our "Compressed Book Edition", this time in Brussels, at Architecture Curating Practice's gallery.
→ Inspired by the image compression on its solar-powered website, Low-tech Magazine squeezed the article catalog of their three-volume chronological book series into just one book. Compressing the content — an editorial and design choice — produces a larger reduction in resource use than printing on recycled paper could ever do.
18:30 Doors open
19:00 Book presentation and introduction of Low-tech Magazine
19:45 Q&A
20:00 Book sale / snacks & drinks / discussion

How Living #Energy Farm Created a Comfortable #OffGrid Lifestyle
I'm actually finding a lot of 3D printed solutions to things. I also got 3D printed shelves for my old RV fridge on eBay, since the originals are hard to find.
I'm getting a 3D printed siphon attachment for a hose as well. Moving water from one place to another can be a bigger problem than you'd think.
