I was using git and termux to sync with my android phone. It worked, sometimes, but ultimately the friction was too high when I wasn't at my desktop and wanted to write something down without the risk of having to resolve a merge conflict later.</p><p>Capturing my morning musings from the porch couch is 100% worth the money.</p>

I used to run a wiki locally for documentation but Obsidian is a night and day difference! I wrote a <a href="https://social.coop/tags/Bash" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Bash</span></a> script to monitor for file changes and perform <a href="https://social.coop/tags/git" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>git</span></a> commits to a private <a href="https://social.coop/tags/Codeberg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Codeberg</span></a> repo. It's a backup system and versioning all in one, nice. I would probably try <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Obsidan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Obsidan</span></a> primarily, I use <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/roamresearch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>roamresearch</span></a> as my daily <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/pkm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pkm</span></a> at the moment but trying to migrate to local first.</p><p>Comparison-wise, Obsidian vs LogSeq, maybe try Roam vs Tana for a larger set of notes too. I'm more messing around than actively researching though</p>

That’s the one I’ve used for visualizing geolocation notes.</p>
