Elyse M Grasso<p><a href="https://historians.social/tags/WritersCoffeeClub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WritersCoffeeClub</span></a> 10 worldbuilding cont</p><p>Most of my notes in <a href="https://historians.social/tags/NovelWriter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NovelWriter</span></a> are names of people, places or things, with cross references for things like kinship and faction membership and which city they are currently in, and whether they ware currently alive, and nested subdirectories for geographical locations.</p><p>The problem with writing whole worlds is that you end up with a lot of names.</p><p>Some of my notes elsewhere are small essays about how aspects of the world worked at the time.</p>

It turned out that the feature existed, but updates for the docs for the Tools tab are lagging, and the relevant icons are microscopic on a high DPI laptop screen.</p><p>I grabbed the custom.dic file from the LibreOffice config tree, stripped the first 3lines, which were a sort of header, and fed the resulting txt file to the popup started by clicking the appropriate microscopic icon. (I hope I won't need to manually tweak all of the paragraphs going back the other way...)</p>

I think I'm going to copy it into NovelWriter and populate the Notes hierarchy with data from vols 1 &amp; 2 as well as vol 3 so far.<br>(I wish NW could import Open Docs (odt files) as well as export them.
