Night Train is an album by the Oscar Peterson Trio, released in 1963 by Verve Records. The album includes jazz, blues and R&B standards, as well as "Hymn to Freedom", one of Peterson's best known original compositions.

Night Train’s only original Oscar Peterson composition, "Hymn to Freedom," was written on the spot in the studio to close the album, following Norman Granz’s suggestion that the band include a song with a "definitive early-blues feel." Peterson named the new song "Hymn to Freedom" in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., and after Harriette Hamilton wrote accompanying lyrics a year later, it became an unofficial anthem of the Civil Rights Movement. "Hymn to Freedom" is featured prominently in the 2023 documentary Oscar Peterson: Black + White as part of Peterson’s enduring legacy. - Wikipedia

So I'm after a night in a first class compartment and... what the hell
The seats feel larger - yes, for day journeys it's great, but...
The handrests can't be lifted or regulated in any way
The small tables are very poorly designed - because of the mechanics (it's held just from one side) it's slightly tilted and also it's made of a quite slippery material... feels like tragedy, does it?
I don't think it's such an improvement for night travelling compared to second class for that price... but it's still way better than open-space carriages
Just bring the good old Bmz!

We quite enjoyed it!

On the way out, we already had had a stop exiting from #nighttrain and walked about the #Speicherstadt. Enjoyed the sights and watched as Turkish carpets were being lifted up to some high storey. It was #9euroTicket summer, metro incl, so we could easily move around without thinking!
Later that day we took #train to #Lübeck for a night before our night #ferry out to #Malmö.

The way back was more rushed, #Copenhagen-#Verdun in ~30 hours, so pedalo was good!

@acb Even as a definitely not very agile, and sightly overweight, 64-year old I managed to use a such just fine last year, Hamburg–Wien. Would definitely do it again, when travelling solo, if available on a route suiting my itinerary.

(I doubt my wife would want to, though, she would probably find it claustrophobic.)
