One former Netscape employee insisted Marc didn't steal code for Netscape, that those claims were false and had been litigated (they were never litigated), and that Marc "changed" but as someone who went to a couple talks from his former academic colleagues, no this is who he is, who he always was, and none of this is surprising.

And they were saying this in the 90's, but nobody listened.

#MarcAndresson #Netscape

Wolf
For all #Programming, I just want to reinforce one very important rule: your plan must never be to #Rewrite it from scratch. I've seen this tried many times. This is what killed #Netscape. They had a plan, the engineers nixed it. We explained to management that what they were suggesting was two years of work. Rick Gessner exercised all his sway on the higher-ups. Integrating his new style and rendering engine became the plan again. We didn't release the version that was ready. Instead, we worked for two years to do the thing they wanted, with no releases during that time. It was a bad decision.

Step-by-step. No matter how bad you think it is: step-by-step.
