Wildwiese<p>Been curious how a nalbound bag would go, and a few weeks ago I was gifted the perfect yarn to play with. Turned out great, I think! The shoulder strap and white stripes are… appliqué? Made post-facto but attached as they were made. <br>Don’t know all the vocab- Finnish 2+2. Most connections were F1. Connection loops for the stripes/strap were picked up after the +2 of the stitch but before the stitch was finished. <a href="https://hoosier.social/tags/HandMade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HandMade</span></a> <a href="https://hoosier.social/tags/FiberArts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FiberArts</span></a> <a href="https://hoosier.social/tags/StringCraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StringCraft</span></a> <a href="https://hoosier.social/tags/Nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Nalbinding</span></a> <a href="https://hoosier.social/tags/Wool" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Wool</span></a> <a href="https://hoosier.social/tags/Mastoart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mastoart</span></a></p>
Numerous bees in a trenchcoat<p>I thought I was making a lap blanket but it got out of hand. Then I thought I was making a bedspread, but now the cat has called dibs.</p><p>It turns out, I'm making the biggest cat bed in the world. It might just about fit him and his personality.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nalbinding</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/fibrearts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fibrearts</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/CatsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CatsOfMastodon</span></a> </p><p>CW for feline eye contact</p>
Adam Onza<p>Some <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nalbinding</span></a>. Boden stitch or something like that. I do not felt or spit join. I just make knots &amp; don't worry.🕶️ I think if the ancients got some acrylic, they'd just knot it, or something like that. (It apparently doesn't work for spit joins)</p>
Adam Onza<p>Lots of <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Nalbinding</span></a> videos out now! The videos that I first learned from are kind of buried. However, some of the new multitude are quite good.</p>
Alyn<p>As for my <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nalbinding</span></a> attempt, I actually got reasonably good at the one basic stitch (Oslo Stitch I think.) I made a pair of fingerless mittens and a hat (of sorts). The green wool came from my Nalbinding for Beginners kit sold by Emma 'Bruni' Boast at Jorvik Festival 2019.<br>The first mitten took months of trial &amp; unravel iterations - you can see the left one is poor down by the cuff and slowly improves, while the right one is more uniform.<br>I think the right mitten took 2 weeks and the hat 8!</p>
Alyn<p>Went to <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Iceland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Iceland</span></a> in 2019, and bought a pair of woolen socks from a tiny craft stall in the <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Vestfj%C3%B6r%C3%B0ur" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Vestfjörður</span></a>. After a few years they wore out. Being knitted, not nålbinded they started to unravel. I finally got around to making my 1st repair attempt today with some WYS wool I had bought for my <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nalbinding</span></a>. I'm hoping that using the pure wool will allow the repairs to felt together over time. It's probably obvious, but the left one is the 1st attempt.<br>[edit spelling]<br><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/VisibleMending" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VisibleMending</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/FibreCraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FibreCraft</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Wool" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Wool</span></a></p>
La Leipsig<p>One of the ancient textile arts is nalbinding. Here I am working on a Viking hat in indigo wool. It’s slow craft :-)<br><a href="https://mastoart.social/tags/textileart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>textileart</span></a> <a href="https://mastoart.social/tags/nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nalbinding</span></a> <a href="https://mastoart.social/tags/handmade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>handmade</span></a> <br>***correction for nalbinding, thx!</p>
Andy<p>Finished the hat. It's a bit nipply up top. I need to start the round from the crown and work down, I think. All a learning experience. I'll maybe write a blog post.</p><p><a href="https://social.4142.io/tags/nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nalbinding</span></a> <a href="https://social.4142.io/tags/yarn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>yarn</span></a> <a href="https://social.4142.io/tags/crafts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>crafts</span></a></p>

Remy RoseLittle bit of nålbinding practice. Dunno how common it is, but I prefer to keep my working loops on a knitting needle, use a tapestry needle as a naal, and work with thin cotton yarns. Since you can't wet splice lengths of cotton together, the Russian join works well enough instead. Never got the hang of the whole thumb thing, but my work comes out nice and tight and dense this way. This is (hopefully) Mammen stitch.<br> <br> <a href="https://pxlmo.com/discover/tags/nålbinding?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#nålbinding</a> <a href="https://pxlmo.com/discover/tags/nalbinding?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#nalbinding</a> <a href="https://pxlmo.com/discover/tags/naalbinding?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#naalbinding</a> <a href="https://pxlmo.com/discover/tags/textile?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#textile</a> <a href="https://pxlmo.com/discover/tags/needlework?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#needlework</a> <a href="https://pxlmo.com/discover/tags/yarncrafts?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#yarncrafts</a>

Nickoli<p>I've made a nålbinding needle for my wife to try nålbinding. Nålbinding needles are blunt and have flat sides. This is made from some scrap wood (I think it's pine) and treated with linseed oil. Once she's used it a bit I'm planning to make some more.</p><p><a href="https://ieji.de/tags/nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nalbinding</span></a> <a href="https://ieji.de/tags/crafts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>crafts</span></a></p>
Andy<p>I decided to start writing about my journey into nålbinding by starting a blog. I'll likely update it every few weeks and hopefully not let it decay like every other blog I've run in the last 20+ years. 😁 No promises, though.</p><p><a href="https://nalbinding.blog" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">nalbinding.blog</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.4142.io/tags/nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nalbinding</span></a> <a href="https://social.4142.io/tags/stitching" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>stitching</span></a> <a href="https://social.4142.io/tags/yarn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>yarn</span></a> <a href="https://social.4142.io/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a> <a href="https://social.4142.io/tags/crochet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>crochet</span></a> <a href="https://social.4142.io/tags/HeritageCraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HeritageCraft</span></a></p>

Monday Week, Procrastinator<p>I'm teaching myself <a href="https://writing.exchange/tags/nalbinding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nalbinding</span></a> today and somehow the knotting movement is reminding me of <a href="https://writing.exchange/tags/lacemaking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>lacemaking</span></a>. I really want to get back into that--I need some more bookmarks. I think Mum is storing all my bobbins and pillows at her place with her supply though... that could be an issue, it's a 40km drive to get there.</p>
