This week's #DisquietJunto prompt was to take an existing track that is in 4/4 and re-work it so it is in 5/4. I participated in #WeeklyBeats in 2024 and near the end I challenged myself to compose tracks in any time signature other than 4/4. I ended up with a handful of tracks in odd time that I really enjoyed making. Will I finally finish this song I started in 2018? I've remade and abandoned it several times, but I like the melody and percussion enough to revisit. Some might say "just abandon it and do something else", but I'm just too stubborn :blobfoxlaughsweat:

This week I got a new flash of inspiration and added some FM "strings". Also changed my workflow from making the whole song inside the Digitone to recording some patterns and then assemble them in Ardour.

I've hit this strange cadence with my creative energy these days where I'm good for about 15-20 minutes of doing something, then I have to crash back out of the flow. Wait 20-40 min and repeat. As someone who tends to hyper focus once I hit a flow, this is a very, very strange experience.

I've decided to take it as a good thing, evidence that I'm moving forward with things that are important to me while still being attentive to what energy I actually have available.

The results of watching some drumming tutorials and applying to the drum-machine. Pretty happy with the results. Attached are three short clips from my Jamuary song "Star" demonstrating the new fills.

Had a bit of trouble finding three toms that fit together from the #DigiTakt's factory sounds. Perhaps I should try to get a soundpack 🤔

For some reason searching for the Bandwagon URL doesn't give me any results, but rearranging to a user name, such as @icaria36@bandwagon.fm does (I know you can follow from the Bandcamp website, but I'm so used to search for the URL that it threw me a little when nothing came up).

Sorry for throwing another UX bug(?) report at you here @benpate instead of opening a GitHub issue. 😇
