last weekend i found a photograph of the treehouse i painted for MÄANDER (published by @hatjecantzverlag) in the @cabinporn book
it’s taken from a different angle but you can clearly recognize it. i would like to underline that i am sitting on the shoulders of giants: my paintings are often reworks of the existing works by other artists, like this example shows. i collect, recompose, collage and through recombination and putting the sujets in a new context, awake new associations and create something else.

i can clearly remember preparing to paint this idea - in 2009 i took photographs of my friend A when working on my last monograph HOW TO DISAPPEAR. in 3 weeks my next monograph MÄANDER / MEANDER will be published with @hatjecantzverlag i see the continuity of my topics… the line of connection

it’s a punk documentary but it’s about the message: find your people and work on your vision TOGETHER. it’s the best thing to do! it’s challenging and enriching and you grow as a group and individum. i love being with these active smart creative lovely beings! thank you SPRING for us!

i can still remember the first time i met jon. i saw him in the hallway of a small art room in hamburg. i was sure i had seen his face in a magazine and painted it. so i introduced myself with: “you’re a model, aren’t you?” everyone around us started laughing “wow, what a turn-on!” i realized how my words could have been understood and blushed.
a few years later, i was actually allowed to paint jon and i’m very happy about it. in this picture, he draws the feeding passages of a leaf miner (miniermotte) with chalk in a rocky gorge. thank you dear jon!
