I've been using well into the 60-70% range of memory on my #k3s #homelab cluster, and I think it's time for an upgrade. I haven't even added all of my existing services yet, and there needs to be additional headroom for my Minecraft servers (at least 2).
In light of this, I've opted to purchase 2 #Minisforum UM890 Pros barebone kits, which I'll fill using some items from Amazon. Both will get a 1TB NVMe SSD and 96GB of RAM.. I suspect this should do the trick of future proofing the homelab for a while
. I'll probably also setup link aggregation over the 2x 2.5Gbit ports on each unit as well.
Last piece of the puzzle is rack mounting these things.. I haven't seen a ton of options - just this Racknix item which doesn't exactly match my theme: https://racknex.com/minisforum-um890-pro-rackmount-kit-um-min-203/
I'll need to keep an eye out but I'm excited to have such modern machines in my stack (all of my existing gear is older 2nd machines, which work great of course, but can't cut it memory wise).
