Conda is actually a package manager. But then there is also <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Anaconda" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Anaconda</a> and <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Miniconda" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Miniconda</a> as package managers. Both Miniconda and Anaconda install conda. Then there is <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/mamba" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#mamba</a> A reimplementation of Conda in C++. There is also <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Micromamba" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Micromamba</a>...but no <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Minimamba" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Minimamba</a>...<a href="https://chaos.social/tags/bioinformatics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#bioinformatics</a> 🥴 🐍

I've just spent last night fixing a mess I created by trying different env managers... and bloody reticulate!It all started because <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/conda" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#conda</a> was slow, so I installed <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/micromamba" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#micromamba</a> and loved it. But reticulate (which I need for uni) wouldn't acknowledge the env. So I tried <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/mamba" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#mamba</a> and promptly broke my system. <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Cmd" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#Cmd</a> died, and so did <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/rstats" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#rstats</a>, <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#python</a> and <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/neovim" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#neovim</a>. My entire rig. I can laugh about it now, because I still haven't slept and I've lost it. Haha!

I couldn't get the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/rstats" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#rstats</a> 'reticulate' package to acknowledge my <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/micromamba" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#micromamba</a> environment so I decided to try <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/mamba" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#mamba</a> instead. Maybe I was too reckless with chopping and changing tools, because my system became corrupted and I had to return to a recent snapshot of <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#windows</a>. It was messy and it took me all night to fix. That was... an adventure.
