Moderator in a metal detectorist group claims that a small coin hoard found by detectorists near Halmstad has been misplaced by the authorities, possibly even stolen by a government employee. Angry anti-government reply guys pile on in the comments.

It takes me two emails and less than 24 hours to find out the hoard's inventory number in Halland County Museum, as well as which of the museum's storage facilities it is kept in.

We used the #MetalDetector this evening and quickly found a beautiful 1841 coin in our yard. It’s a “Hard Times Token,” minted by private companies in the late 1830s to early 1840s as a protest against Andrew Jackson’s economic policies. For good reason—these tokens ended up being used as money when coins were being hoarded. They ultimately fell out of use by 1857, indicating it was dropped at least 15-20 years before our house was built.

I've been out this morning. There was nothing of value found, most people would say. However, I found this handle and I really like it. Idk why. I want to go all like 'they just don't make stuff like this anymore ' 😁😁😁

I found it in a horse pasture. Wonder what it could be from and how old it is.

I still maintain that no matter how clearly you have been taught, no matter how deeply you have read...

...you will not truly understand the danger of the electric fence until you attempt to crawl under it and fail, and the fence discharges jolt after painful jolt into the small of your back while you lie on your stomach in the wet grass pissing yourself and your metal-detecting buddy doesn't help because he is laughing so hard he can barely stand.

I am happy/ashamed to note that i was the unhelpful buddy in this situation
