We don't really have that expertise here. I can hack my way through Python usually, but not to a high professional degree, usually just utilities.</p><p>And I really have no issues with licenses in general. We have enough and the tool (Riviera-PRO) is very good, better than Questasim in my experience.</p><p>The issue is that <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/MathWorks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MathWorks</span></a> is just super opaque. I just want prices but they don't publish them, and having to go through the same information through two different sales guys was tedious.</p><p>As far as filter design and other tools, several years ago I went through a process trying to use Python to generate filter coefficients from scipy and compare against MATLAB. Honestly the MATLAB ones were better. I believe it was the same underlying algorithm, but there was a little secret sauce in there that improved things. Anecdotal since I haven't done a wider study, but makes me wary.</p>
