Apparently the pathdef (a config file) is now owned by root, and there is no way to create a per-user config. I can hack my way through Python usually, but not to a high professional degree, usually just utilities.And I really have no issues with licenses in general. We have enough and the tool (Riviera-PRO) is very good, better than Questasim in my experience.The issue is that <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/MathWorks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MathWorks</a> is just super opaque. I just want prices but they don't publish them, and having to go through the same information through two different sales guys was tedious.As far as filter design and other tools, several years ago I went through a process trying to use Python to generate filter coefficients from scipy and compare against MATLAB. Honestly the MATLAB ones were better. I believe it was the same underlying algorithm, but there was a little secret sauce in there that improved things. Anecdotal since I haven't done a wider study, but makes me wary.

We have 8000+ users of <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/MATLAB" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#MATLAB</a> and the algorithms they develop are deeply embedded into every machine we sell. The <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/MathWorks" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#MathWorks</a> and ASML are more than mere vendor and client. We drive MATLAB development by partnering with The MathWorks and making sure that our requirements end up as features in future releases.
